COMING CELEBRATION
In México, Día de Reyes (Known elsewhere as Epiphany) is celebrated on January 6 to honor the Three Wise Man. This Mexican Traditional Celebration represents the day the Three Wise Man who arrived bearing gifts to Christ Child. In México, children received gifts on this day, brought by the three kings, or Los Reyes Magos, whose names are Melchior of Persia, Gaspar of India and Balthazar of Arabia.
Mexican children write letters to the three kings requesting a toy that they would like to receive. This letter usually is placed inside a shoe and the Kings tend to place their gifts under the Christmas tree when children wake up.
Casa Dolores is honoring this celebration with a taste of our Traditional Rosca de Reyes/ Three Kings cake.
Come by the museum Saturday January 4, 2020 from 12noon to 4pm to see the meaning of the King’s cake.
